About Us
Melonie is the Principal of Smith & Wells and established the firm in February 2008. She graduated in law from the University of Warwick in 1994 and gained a distinction in Legal Practice in 1996. She qualified as a Solicitor in 1999 and worked as a Commercial Litigator in three regional firms, before making the bold move aged 36 to set up her own practice. Melonie specialises in high value and complex commercial disputes. She has a broad client base, from individuals to international companies and her legal career spans more than two decades.
Melonie is an experienced advocate and negotiator. Where possible she supports mediation as an alternative to the court process, having attended at more than 250 formal and informal mediations and settlement meetings.
Damian graduated from the University of Wales in Swansea in 2001 with a First Class Honours degree and he gained a distinction in Legal Practice in 2004. He qualified as a Solicitor in 2006 and has worked at a top 20 National Law Firm. He is a Consultant Solicitor at Smith and Wells, dealing with a broad range of cases, with a particular specialism in insolvency work. Damian is regularly instructed by Insolvency Practitioners and Company Directors.
Manisha is a senior paralegal and has worked at Smith & Wells since 2015. She specialises in debt recovery for businesses, breach of contract matters and land disputes, particularly those involving disputed boundaries and rights of way. She has her own established client base which she is always looking to expand.
